Panerai PAM 532 "Paneristi Forever"

I'm very lucky to have been able to get one of these Paneristi Forever Special Edition watches which is a tribute to the Paneristi.com enthusiast website.  Reference number PAM 00532.

1940 case and DLC PVD.  Limited to 500 units.  47 mm diameter.  Solid caseback with "Paneristi Forever" engraved on the back.  Caliber P.3000 manual wind in-house movement that has a 3-day power reserve, 21,600 bph, double barrels, Incabloc shock protection, and jumping hour hand with constant seconds at the 9 o'clock.  Screw-down winding crown.  Sandwich dial with "Pig" above the 6 o'clock.  Domed sapphire crystal (1.8 mm thick) and DLC (diamond-like coating) coating on the case and strap buckle top it off.  Water resistance is 100 meters.

Click here for more information.

The new SE box has a glass top to view the watch.  All the bells and whistles.  Thanks to L.S. at the NY Panerai Boutique for making this happen.

This watch has exhausted my watch budget for the foreseeable future!

From the Panerai website:

A new watch celebrates the remarkable association between Officine Panerai and its most loyal supporters: the Radiomir 1940 3 Days – 47mm “Paneristi Forever”, a Special Edition with the Radiomir 1940 case in DLC-coated steel with the inscription Paneristi Forever engraved on the back. It is dedicated to all enthusiasts of the brand, and in particular to those who belong to the community which for 13 years has interacted every day on the site www.paneristi.com. It was in September 2000 that admirers of Panerai watches first found the ideal platform for expressing and sharing their own passion on the site www.paneristi.com, which had recently been created by an English enthusiast. Since then, the online community has gathered many thousands of connoisseurs who have spontaneously created one of the most remarkable cults for a watch brand, with millions of visits to the site each month to share stories, photographs and information, and to ask and respond to questions. The forum hosted on the site is moderated by a group of coordinators who are completely independent of the brand, and it attracts enthusiasts from every corner of the globe. The Radiomir 1940 case has the same form as the historic one that was transitional between the Radiomir and the Luminor, and it has the same diameter of 47 mm that was adopted for the first Panerai prototype in 1936. For the first time, the Radiomir 1940 case appears with a matt black finish, produced by a DLC (Diamond-Like-Carbon) coating on the steel structure. The black dial is of sandwich construction with minimalist graphics. On it are the small seconds dial at 9 o’clock and, in relief at 6 o’clock, the image of a Siluro a Lenta Corsa, the human torpedo on which the commandos of the Italian Navy carried out their epic attacks with Panerai instruments on their wrists. Toughness, reliability and maximum legibility are ensured by compliance with the historic standards of the brand. The Radiomir 1940 3 Days – 47mm “Paneristi Forever” (PAM00532) is water-resistant to 10 atmospheres (about 100 metres) and it is supplied with a strap made of natural, untreated leather.

PAM 111 on Serge Custom Strap

I put my PAM 111 on a dark brown Serge strap I received from the generosity of my friend Chris M. (aka Speedmaster).  Thanks Chris!  What a difference a strap makes.  It has breathed new life into the 111 as I was getting bored.  Nice and thick, but not ridiculously so.  The buckle is the curved type "Pre-V" style bottle-cap.  It's a brand new strap, but it feels broken-in.  It's very comfortable and has a vintage aura to it.

Serge straps are some of the best value per buck aftermarket Panerai straps out there.  Check them out!

New Shoes

I got a new black Hirsch Liberty strap with white cord stitching.  After mounting it on my DLC'd PAM 000, I decided to put it on my PAM 111.

The Photogenic Base

The PAM 112 or Base looks good in photos as well as it does on the wrist.  A large stark black dial with clear, over-sized hour markers, no minutes or seconds indicators, and plain luminous baton hands makes for easy at-a-glance reading.  It's great for those with myopia :-)
